What a Full Branding Shoot Looks Like for a Women’s Wellness Coach

Before someone books a call, reads your about page, or even scrolls past your Instagram, they’ve already decided how they feel about you. That feeling comes from your images.

If you’re a wellness coach, your photos are doing more work than you might think.

This is a behind-the-scenes look at a full branding shoot I did with Sam of Rewild Her Wellness, a hormone health coaching practice based out of the Chicago area. Sam was building a brand-new website and needed more than a few headshots. She needed a complete visual library that could work across her site, her social media, and her marketing for the next year or more.

If you’re a wellness coach wondering what branding photography actually looks like in practice, this post is for you. I’ll walk you through what we created, how we planned it, and why every decision was intentional.

About the Client: Rewild Her Wellness

Sam’s practice, Rewild Her Wellness, is focused on hormone health, helping women reconnect with their bodies in a way that’s supportive and sustainable, not restrictive or clinical. Sam helps women restore their cycles after birth control and prepare for pregnancy using a holistic, body-led approach – no “one size fits all” protocols. She focuses on giving your body what it actually needs to heal, not forcing it into compliance. She’s currently accepting new clients for private coaching.

Sam is very friendly and easy to talk to – the kind of person who instantly makes you comfortable and leads you to unintentionally share all your secrets. In short she is warm, fun and relatable, which is especially important for women going through vulnerable health challenges. Her brand is built around nervous system support, cycle awareness, and helping women understand their bodies instead of trying to “fix” them. Everything about her approach is warm, grounded, and real, and that needed to come through clearly in her visuals.

The Goal, A Full Visual Library, Not Just a Few Nice Photos

Sam came to me at the beginning of her business, while her website was still being built. She was working with a web designer, Glo Creative Design, and needed images that would actually function across the site, not just look pretty in isolation.

That meant we needed to plan for homepage banners, an about page, service pages, email marketing, social media content, and directory listings. I collaborated directly with her web designer throughout the process so every image we created had a clear purpose and place to live.

This is the difference between getting photos and building a visual strategy.

How We Designed the Shoot

For a wellness brand especially, the feeling of your images matters as much as how they look. We built this entire session around one idea: the photos should feel like a space where someone can relax, feel supported, and take a breath.

Here’s how we brought that to life.

A home-like environment, not a clinical set

Because Sam works from home with her clients, we wanted the space to reflect that. We used my home studio with soft natural light and comfortable, lived-in setups. Nothing staged or sterile.

Images that show how she actually works

We created photos of Sam with her laptop, reviewing client information, and using the Mira device she uses to track hormone data with clients. These aren’t just pretty pictures. They help potential clients understand what working with her actually looks like.

Candid lifestyle moments

We also made time for more relaxed images: working on the sofa, sitting on the floor, reading. These moments make her feel human and approachable, which is everything when you’re selling a personal, trust-based service.

Food styling that reflects her philosophy

A lot of wellness brands unintentionally look restrictive or intimidating. Sam’s approach is the opposite of that. So we intentionally included bread, chocolate, and fresh fruit in the shoot. Simple visual cues that communicate balance and nourishment over rules and restriction.

Wardrobe that tells the full story

We used soft feminine neutrals and warm tones that aligned with her brand palette, plus a bold red top for images where we wanted her to feel confident and stand out. Having that range meant we could create both approachable, everyday images and more elevated, expert-level shots, all in one session.

What Images Does a Wellness Coach Actually Need?

What Images do I need for my personal brand? As a Branding Photographer for Wellness Coaches in Chicago, this is one of the most common questions I get, so here’s exactly what we created for Sam:

Headshots — clean professional headshots and lifestyle headshots with a natural background, for directories, press features, and her about page.

Working images — laptop sessions, tool interactions, and “in-session” style imagery that shows her in her element.

Lifestyle images — relaxed, candid moments that build connection and show her personality.

Detail and storytelling images — close-ups of her tools, products, and food styling that add depth to the story.

Website-specific images — horizontal images with negative space designed for homepage banners and page headers, so her web designer had exactly what she needed.

Social media content — vertical images built for Instagram and marketing use so she could show up consistently without scrambling for content.

Having this full range means your brand looks cohesive everywhere, your website, your Instagram, your emails, all of it.

What It’s Actually Like to Be Photographed

What to Expect from a Personal Branding Photoshoot by a Branding Photographer for Wellness Coaches in Chicago

Sam came in a little nervous, which is completely normal. Most of my clients haven’t done a lot of professional photography before and aren’t sure what to expect.

We started with more structured setups to ease into it, and by the second outfit she was laughing, moving naturally, and fully relaxed. By the end, it felt more like a creative collaboration than a photoshoot.

I hear this from clients a lot: “I don’t know how to pose” or “I’m not photogenic.” You don’t need to be either of those things. My job is to guide you through the whole process, from planning your outfits and sets in advance, to directing every pose and expression on the day. You just show up.

Why Investing Early Is Actually the Smarter Move

Sam made a decision I really respect: she didn’t wait until she felt established to invest in her brand. She built a strong visual foundation from day one by hiring a branding photographer for Wellness Coaches in Chicago.

That means she’s showing up professionally right out of the gate, attracting clients who are the right fit, and positioning herself as an expert in her field before she’s had to earn that perception the hard way.

Here’s the thing about branding photography that most people miss: it’s not about how you look. It’s about closing the gap between the quality of service you provide and how people perceive you before they ever speak to you. When those two things are aligned, your business becomes a lot easier to trust and easier to choose.
