I’m so excited for today’s post, because our subjects are very special to me. Last weekend we got to shoot some engagement photos for my gorgeous little cousin, Laura, and her new fiancee, Walt. So let me tell you a little bit about our family. My mom has 5 sisters, but our generation is almost all boys. As in, out of 13 grandkids, Laura and I are the only girls. So we’ve always kind of felt more like the younger sisters of our moms and aunts than one of the guys. And Laura is someone special. Not only is she beautiful and sweet, she’s also super smart. She just became the first doctor in our family by graduating from dental school, and is continuing her education to earn further specializations in her field. We’re all so proud of Laura!
The whole family is excited for Walt and Laura. Walt is like Laura’s perfect counter-balance. He’s calm and easy-going, somebody Laura can rely on yet smart and talented in his own right. Kamran and I had so much fun hanging out with Laura and Walt and are so excited for their wedding!
The shoot actually started in the elevator! You don’t need to go far for fun locations:
We went down to Milwaukee’s hip 3rd ward area to get that textured, urban look:
The bridge over the river is constantly going up and down for boat traffic and made for a cool photo opp:
One of Milwaukee’s fine residents offered us a prop for Walt:
Only in Milwaukee. Yes, it IS a bicycle tavern. Believe it or not, there are a number of these roaming around the 3rd ward. You too can reserve a pedal tavern so that you and your friends can ride around the streets of Milwaukee, burning calories while you drink. Apparently, they’re very popular for bachelor/ette parties. Laura, I think I know what we are doing for your bachelorette party!!
I know, now that you have seen the Pedal Tavern, nothing else will come close. But I like this shot, too:
The brick buildings and setting sun gave us some great backdrops:
Finally, we headed over to the lake for a few quick photos before the sun set:
Congratulations Laura and Walt! We love you!
