Sometimes you’ll get an idea in your head, and it just consumes you. It burns within you like a fire, so hot that you just can’t ignore it.
Everybody around you might think you’re crazy. In fact, you might think you’re a little bit crazy.
But that’s how you know it’s a good idea.
A few years ago my cousin Paul decided that his heart was full of The Blues. In fact, his heart was overflowing with a passion for blues harmonica. Now, if you read this blog you know that I and my family are from Wisconsin. We have a healthy respect for the blues, but one could safely say that Paul’s newfound passion was not entirely understood by some in our clan. Harmonica? The blues? Paul? huh?
But nevermind, Paul asked questions and sought instruction and practiced practiced practiced when he wasn’t working or traveling….
Fermin Reyes felt a similar calling, but his crazy idea was to sing the blues in Spanish. So he did the crazy thing and formed a band. To play original blues. In Spanish….
Last week we got to witness the debut of so many years of hard work, patience, practice, and dreaming, at the CD release party for Azul de Noche. And I am not just speaking as a proud cousin when I say that they ROCKED. Seriously. Latin blues, who knew?
So here’s to Vision, and those who make our world a little brighter with it.
