A couple months ago I dragged Kamran to see “Anna Karenina” with me. The previews promised a visual feast – something lavish and beautiful, with costumes to die for. And boy did it deliver. While Kamran endured 2+ hours of being the only gentleman in the theater, I soaked up the colors, lights, and, well, prettiness. And I knew right then that I had to somehow create images inspired by this film.
Over the last couple months I gathered my supplies – a vintage fur set from ebay, strings and strings of pearls, and a fabulous model. Kam and I finally went up to Madison last weekend to create the shoot, as I imagined that the snow-covered woods around my parents’ house would be perfect. Our model, Erin, came out to join us, and convinced the fabulous Katrina King of Blush! Makeup Artistry to help us with the hair and makeup.
The funny thing is that sometimes on a shoot, the best images can come from the least expected places. I had originally imagined mostly shooting outdoors, but Kam and I quickly realized that the lighting inside was absolutely perfect, and we ended up doing most of the shoot right there. I’m sure Erin appreciated not having to spend too much time in the snow in a thin dress! She was fabulous inside and out, though, so we can’t thank her and Katrina enough for helping us bring this idea to life!
