A few years ago, during a cold January just like this, I met a young man at a concert.  We were both there as part of one big group of old and new friends, trying to warm ourselves up with the Caribbean-Indian tunes of local band, Funkadesi.  This particular young man just happened to be handsome, and we struck up a conversation.  By the end of the night, we shyly exchanged numbers, and I went home to convince our mutual friend to get him to call me.

Whether or not he needed the encouragement, he did call, and out we went on a snowy night to shyly smile over wine and candlelight.  And, well, here we are, a few adventures later, and Funkadesi is still one of our favorite local bands.

So, since I know many of you have never heard of this little local gem, and since I’m feeling sentimental, I decided to give away two tickets to Funkadesi‘s concert this Saturday, January 12th, at City Winery in Chicago.  It’s pretty simple.  Anybody can enter, you just have to be 21 and in Chicago on the 12th.  On Thursday, January 10th, I will draw a name from all the entries, and that person’s name will be put on the two tickets I purchased at will call.  Seriously, folks, it’s going to be a fun night at a cool new venue, why not get in for free?  Just leave me your email address on our facebook contest tab.  And that’s it!
