I don’t know if it’s the time change or the waning of the traditional “wedding season”, but I feel like there has been a major shift during the last week. Ok, ok, if I’m honest, I’ll also admit that fretting over the election occupied a *tiny* part of my mind for the past month, so the relief of finally knowing the results may also be affecting me!
At any rate, after our busiest month ever in October – with more weddings and engagements than I care to count – I am ready for our schedule to settle down a little bit. Having a “seasonal” business is odd for planning purposes. We do most of our shooting from May to October, and most of our back-end work from November-April. It’s a chance to work on the non-glamorous parts of our business like accounting, marketing, and database updating. It can be hard to motivate ourselves to focus on these aspects, but we know that the better we can streamline these parts, the easier our busy season is to manage.
Of course, it’s also the time of year when I re-commit to conquering my diet, exercising regularly, and spending more time with family. It’s kind of like New Years for Photographers.
So, in conclusion, we’ll be staring at our computers and dreaming of warmer weather and beautiful weddings for the next few months.
Oh, and falling asleep at 4pm.
Love this picture.
I’m most definitely looking forward to the off season. And falling asleep at 4pm. 🙂
