People ask all the time about what they should wear for their engagement session, so we thought we’d create a little guide with some tips and some inspiration.  I am by no means a fashion expert, but here’s what I’ve found.

1.  Color!  Go for it!  Pick bold colors that will stand out, or a color palette that speaks to you.  Check out a site like http://www.colourlovers.com/ for color palette inspiration.

2.  Don’t match too much, but do go for complementary colors and similar styles.  You might want to pick items that have a similar shade or hue, or just pick one color and pair it with a neutral.

3.  Be picky with prints.  A great print can look awesome in your photos, but you need to be careful that it doesn’t get too distracting.

4.  Wear makeup.  In fact, wear more makeup than you usually wear.  Your engagement session is a great time to do your hair and makeup trial run, but even if you don’t, wear a bit more than usual to make sure it shows up on camera.

5.  Bring an outfit change, and tell your photographer that you have one.  This can give you variety both in your palette as well as your style.

6.  Bring fun accessories!  Great jewelry, hair pieces, and shoes really go a long way in your photos.  Even if you bring comfortable shoes for walking, bring a pair (or two) that just look cute.  Trust me.

7.  Add layers for interest.  Clothes photograph well in layers, and can also help add some variety to your images.

8.  Wear something that makes you feel great.  You want to look at and enjoy these photos for years, and the biggest factor to looking good is feeling good.  So go find yourself something that makes you feel AMAZING.
