One thing I have always missed about living in Wisconsin is the sunsets.  I am an absolute sucker for them.  When I first got into photography, it was pretty much with the intention of just capturing sunsets.  When I was in high school, I used to love taking walks when the sky was so full of color and light that you felt enveloped by it.  Every night it was that way.  Like the mysteries of the universe were right there, so close you could touch them.

In Illinois…. well, I feel like I haven’t seen a sunset here in 12 years.  I don’t know what it is.  The landscape, the city, the vastness of the sky.  It’s just not the same.

But last night, Kamran and I got to do something we’ve never done before.  We got invited to a networking event on one of those big dinner cruises that docks at Navy Pier.  You know, the kind of thing that you always think you should check out some day but never get around to.  Well, when this opportunity came up, thanks to the Windy City Wedding Show and Kanan Cruises, we got around to it.  And I’m so glad we did.

So here’s to doing the things on your bucket list, and my first real Chicago Sunset.

Oh, and Kamran, we need a boat. 🙂

In other news, Kamran and I are headed up north on a road trip today!  It’s our first weekend off since May, and we are heading up to the Northwoods for some swimming, relaxation, and Northwoods Sunsets.  I can’t wait.  Be ready for vacation photos next week. 😛
