Use Your Imagination

FILED IN: Uncategorized

Some days it can be hard to channel your creativity.  The older we get, the more we get stuck in our routines, the less we let our imagination run free.

We get used to seeing the same places the same way, being who we think we should be rather than who we could be.

Erin is a woman whose creativity inspires me.  I see an inner life full of ideas and characters, light and color.  She could be anybody she wants to be.

Last weekend we met up at the Memorial Union Terrace at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a place where I have spent many many summer evenings growing up.  It is such a joy to go back to a familiar place to find unexpected corners, textures, perspectives, and light.

Just like when we were children playing make-believe, this familiar place was transformed in our imaginations into a palace, a castle, an urban alley, a cityscape.

Thank you, Erin, for taking us out of the familiar and into our imaginations.  And thank you for reminding us that we should be searching for the unexpected every day.

Erin also has an awesome Etsy shop where she sells her custom-made found-object accessories, like the clip above.  Check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BellaGrethel.
